Wow, I just saw this post. Yesterday I took a beginning cyanotype workshop here in Tucson. Hadn’t thought about putting it in a journal! Thanks for a great post—I love surprises.

Hi Jan, glad the post was useful! I love doing cyanotype and am glad more people are trying it. The desert is the perfect place with all the sunshine you have. Let me know if you end up using cyanotype as a journaling tool.

Oh fun! I use to use this with my elementary students long ago but never thought about it for my journal. Thanks so much for sharing. I will have to give it a try.

Such a beautiful post, Kristin!

Back in the summer I visited the museum at Lacock, where Fox Talbot was from, and was intrigued by the exhibit of his cyanotype prints that he'd made in the 1830s. I was reminded of the 'sun print' kit I'd been given as a child, and on the strength of my renewed interest have booked myself on a cyanoprint course at the local college next May, which will involve mixing up the solution for projects on paper and fabric. I'd love to take a piece of my own (not precious!) acrylic artwork on paper to see if I can work with that at all, too. I was given some pre-prepped paper for my birthday earlier this month but it's been a rather dark and dingy time so I haven't had the chance to use it yet.

Thank you so much for all the fabulous ideas you've set out in this post - I can't wait to have a play!
